The 13th Azerley Estate Charity Clay Shoot event will take place on Sunday 26 April 2020.

At this years’ 12th event, our largest yet, saw One Hundred and Five, 4-man teams set their sights not only on the clays but also on raising a large amount for our chosen Yorkshire based charity; Support Dogs.

The event started back in 2008 to raise a bit of money for the neo-natal unit at St James Hospital in Leeds.

For 2019, thanks to the generosity of our competitors, sponsors, friends and families, we were able to donate a staggering £26500 to Support Dogs .

2020 will be the 13th year for hugely popular Azerley Estate Charity Clay Shoot

In total thanks to the support of our sponsors, competitors and volunteers we have been able to raise just over £165,600.00 to date, which has been donated to children's charities.

The clay shoot is held on the Azerley Estate near Ripon in North Yorkshire by kind permission of its owners Mr and Mrs Dalton.

The clay shoot covers simulated game flushes at eight stands including one where the clays are launched from our Gothic Tower, which dates back to 1830.

For 2020 we have once again chosen to donate the proceeds to Support Dogs UK an organisation based in the county which provides specialist trained dogs to assist adults with epilepsy and physical disability and children with autism.

A growing part of the success is the Gundog Scurry. We will be staging the event again in 2020. As before, this will be a fun event of 4 retrieves including one from the House Lake!

Entrants for the Dog Scurry do not need to book and can turn up and have a go on the day. This is for all to enjoy and we hope it will encourage the budding trainers in you to practice your skills.

To get you ready and keep you going a BBQ, Hog Roast, refreshments and bar will be running throughout the day.

A word from our hosts:

I would like to thank our game keeper, Kevin Birch for his constant and unending task in organising this event.  I would also like to thank  all his kind helpers, numerous! , and also thank our farmers and everybody else on the estate for their help and forbearance.

To date, with the help from our sponsors, who are enormously generous, competitors and volunteers  we have raised £165,600……a really amazing amount . This has been donated to various Children’s charities and also Support Dogs UK , a charity very dear to our hearts as it trains dogs  to assist  with epileptics , physically  disabled and children with autism . I can’t praise this charity enough as these dogs when trained change lives immeasurably.

The shoot will be much the same as before with game flushes at eight stands including one from our Gothic Tower . Testing . As ever , and as ever to make us smile , we will have a dog scurry  for those with young dogs , beside the lake , where the refreshment tent , hosting a BBQ and hog roast , and bar  will be

Thank you so much for supporting us and much look forward to seeing you.

John and Cherry Dalton
